Update: Tense Situation in City, Curfew Extended till Dec 22 in  Mangaluru Commissionerate

In a press statement Police Commissioner, Dr Harsha has stated that the curfew has been extended to the Mangaluru police commissionerate until December 22 midnight.

On December 19, when section 144 was in place, some organizations without permission from the police had protested in front of the DC office. The protesters shouted slogans and pelted stones and created a tense situation. When the situation worsened and was going out of control the police commissioner imposed curfew from 6 pm December 19. On the possibilities of more violence in the city and the seriousness of the situation, curfew has been extended in the Mangaluru POlice commissionerate until December 22 midnight.

Tense Situation in City, Curfew imposed in Mangaluru Central

Mangaluru: Day by day after the Central government implemented CAB the situation in Mangaluru is deteriorating. After imposing section 144, people got down to the streets to protest against the NRC & CAB. To control the situation the police resorted to lathi-charge.

On December 18, Dr Harsha imposed section 144 from 9:00 pm to December 20 midnight. On December 19, protesters marched towards the DC office and shouted slogans, the police resorted to lathi-charge and detained a number of protesters.

To avoid any untoward incidents from taking place, the Police Commissioner has imposed curfew in Mangaluru Central area which covers Bunder, Kadri, Barke, Urwa and Pandeshwar.

I do not understand the opposition for CAB. It is only related to non-citizens. Citizens have no reason to be scared or angry.

I think this acts violate Article 19 of Constitution and any law can not differentiate based on religion

Wrong, Article 19 talks about Freedom of speech and other freedoms. Nothing related to religion there
