The Akshaya Patra Foundation (ISKCON) Serving Free Lunch at Lady Goschen Hospital
Mangaluru: “When the two service oriented institutions come together this is what happens”- One the world’s largest NGO involved in feeding the needy people in India , yes it’s none other than The Akshaya Patra Foundation; and the other the oldest, established in 1848, Lady Goshan maternity hospital, have initiated to feed the attendees to the patients. A salubrious lunch and dinner will be served by The Akshaya Patra Foundation.
“As during the pandemic period apart from infected patients, the front line fighters like ASHA workers,doctors, police etc. deserve the highest care similarly, and also deserve more attention just like a pregnant woman and new born baby, since the font-liners are attendees to them” said Dr.U V Shenoy from Lady Goschen Hospital.
“Feeling very much relieved that I need not go in search of food and resort to fasting but have this meal and spend more time and care to my daughter” says Viraja from Nelyadi, a patient of Lady Goshen hospital. Similarly every frontliner have their own blessings to count.
Speaking during the informal inauguration program the President of The Akshaya Patra Foundation & ISKCON HG Karunya Sagar Dasa said “ We are humbled and privileged to serve the most deserving people and we look forward to serve more such people in DK district” and He thanked MICRON Technology for sponsoring 25,000 meals.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation has served three lakh meals quantity of ration packets to migrant workers and local labourers in the last two months in the district. Around 20 employees from the foundation are involved in the process of procuring, production, transporting, serving and cleaning. Boiled rice, sambar, sabji and pickle are served presently.
