‘The Remix’ winner wants to pursue original music
Mumbai, May 5 (IANS) Rashmeet Kaur of the Rashmeet-Su Real duo that has won digital music show “The Remix”, says she wants to pursue independent music along with a career as a Bollywood singer.
“The Remix” streamed on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.
Rashmeet told IANS: “Since the show has a global reach, I am sure many music directors have got to know about my potential as a singer. So, of course, I want to work with Bollywood music directors, which is a bigger dream.
“However, I want to pursue my original independent music. I keep writing and composing music since I enjoy doing it. Why wait for a music director to come and approach me? I think we all artistes should keep making our own music.”
The core concept of the show “The Remix” was to recreate some of the cult Bollywood songs in collaboration with DJs. The show started on March 10 with participation from 10 teams.
More than a global reach through the platform, Rashmeet believes that the show has given her an opportunity to learn more about and discover her talent as a musician.
Rashmeet, who started learning music from the age of five, said: “Through this show, I attempted doing different things like beat-boxing, playing the guitar… I did a little rapping, playing Rajasthani instrument morchang… In each episode, I added something extra, something new.
“That is how my partner Su Real and I have grown throughout the show and made some difference.”
The show was judged by music director Amit Trivedi, singer Sunidhi Chauhan and DJ Nucleya.
“We have learnt a lot of things from all three judges. While Amit sir used to talk about the production and presentation of our performance, Nucleya used to focus on very small details and comment on them.
“That made us understand how small things create a difference in our performance. On the other hand, Sunidhi ma’am is a delight. I think we were really lucky to perform before her. We had a party,” Rashmeet said.
