With Theme ‘ Live In Your World, Play In Ours’-School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya hosts ‘Expressions ’17’ – an Intercollegiate Fest

Mangaluru: Students from Fifteen colleges from DK/Mangaluru Unleashed their hidden talents at the “Expressions 2017″- a Intercollegiate Fest, with a theme ” Live In Your World, Play In Ours”- Virtual Reality, hosted by School of Social Work -Roshni Nilaya UG Students on Saturday, 16 September at the college auditorium. With the Theme “Virtual Reality”, the Fest is an earnest attempt to be liberation from Conformity, a floating world ruled by Passion, Creativity, Innovation, and Freedom of Information. And today, the UG students of Roshini Nilaya truly conveyed their theme message to the students/participants from other colleges as “live in your world and play in Ours. But let’s face it. Without the Real World and People, there is no Virtual World.”

The programme began with invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song rendered by the UG students, which was followed by the inauguration, which was done in a unique and Digital way by keying in the word ‘Run V R”, with visual display on the screen portraying the images of Roshni Nilaya College and its campus life, to the dance beat of Tamil/English number “Kuthu Fire” by Vidya Vox – this unique concept was created by Rajath Naik and Rachan Kamath, both UG Students of Roshini. The inauguration was done by the chief guest-Shailesh Kottari- General secretary- Youth Congress Mangaluru South Assembly, along with other dignitaries on the dais namely- Dr L N Bhat- Registrar (Evaluation)-Roshni Nilaya; Sarik Ankitha and Rachitha Cabral – Student welfare Officers/Staff Coordinators; Ann Hormis Tharakan-Student President, Akshara -General Secretary, and Navami-Entertainment Secretary, all of Roshni Nilaya.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Shailesh Kottari said, “In the modern age, the Internet has emerged as a useful method for all age groups. In the past, its use was just limited to business but in the past few years or so, Internet has become a popular method of learning among the students as well. There are various platforms available on the Internet where students can not only learn but can enjoy their time as well. Online education is becoming a trend among the students from around the world. Using this method, you can engage in a course without going to college. The other benefit of Internet is that you can opt for an assignment writing service if you find it difficult to attempt your assignment or homework. The Internet is also an effective method of doing research for you if your professor assigns you to write your assignment or asks you to make a model.”

“The Internet is also coming handy for the students in connecting with their friends and teachers. There are various social networking sites available on the Internet where you can stay in touch with your friends and teachers. In the same time there are a few drawbacks also- like human trafficking, games like Blue Whale which could lead a person to commit suicide etc. So we also need to be careful while browsing the Internet and stay away from sites that would harm your life and others too. Wish the Fest all success,” added Kottari.

Unveiling the trophies also through a unique digital concept by typing in the word ‘YES’, Dr L N Bhat addressing the gathering said, “Today’s Fest will allow you to demonstrate the spirit of adventure, and not the spirit of destruction, for example like the new game on Internet “Blue Whale”. We at Roshni Nilaya never encourage any student to take up such web games which will ruin their lives or even lead to death. Make the best use of your hidden talents, by unleashing and exploring it to the outside world. I would like to congratulate the UG students of Roshni Nilaya for coming up, with this unique Fest, which has attracted participants from 15 college- a houseful registration which was limited to only 15 colleges. Best of luck and all success to the participants in the Intercollegiate Fest”.

Following a Flash Mob by the UG students to the dance beat “Kuthu Fire”- it was time for the various Fest events namely- Godaady.com (Ice Breaker); Google Guru (Stress Interview); Photoception (Photography); Best Viner (Vine Making); Soof It Up (Video parody); Rave and Rant (Turn Coat); Mario Cart 6D (Treasure Hunt); Scream Meme (Comic Strip); and Harlem Shake (Dance). The valedictory of the Fest will be held at 5:00 pm with Sandalwood/Coastalwood Actor Asthik Avinash Shetty as the Chief Guest. The inaugural programme was compered by Merulla Pinto and Nashma Khatija, both UG students, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Entertainment secretary, Navami.

Roshni Nilaya always has something to display that is far from the “usual” from many other Educational Institutions in and around Mangalore. The Institution that is dedicated for various Social Work activities obviously provides additional incentives to prove to be the “best of the best” in so many activities that enables many other Institutions to be as creative as Roshni Nilaya. “Live in your World, play in ours” is a good theme perhaps that attracted many Schools in and around Mangalore to take part in the event on September 16, 2017 and display their best of talents, creative displays to… Read more »
