Thieves Steal Valuable Jewelry from Temple in Bantwal Taluk

Bantwal: A daring theft occurred at the Sri Devaki Krishna Ravalanath Temple in Pudu village, Bantwal Taluk, Dakshina Kannada district. Three unidentified thieves broke into the temple and made off with valuable gold and silver jewelry worth lakhs of rupees.

The thieves, caught on CCTV camera, entered the temple through the rear door around 3:30 am on Monday. They broke open the sanctum sanctorum and stole the deity’s silver pedestal, gold ornaments, and other valuable items. The stolen items include 1.5 kg silver pedestal, 3-4 pawns (approximately 180 grams) of gold jewelry and other valuable items.

The thieves were seen carrying sharp weapons and were caught on camera fleeing the scene with a bag containing the stolen items.

The temple priest and staff noticed the theft when the temple dog started barking incessantly. Upon checking the CCTV footage, they saw the thieves inside the temple and immediately informed the authorities.

Ramesh Nayak, the temple administrator, filed a complaint with the Bantwal Rural Police. The police are investigating the incident using CCTV footage.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the police are working to apprehend the culprits.
