Thousands of Congress Workers Witness Swearing-in Ceremony of DK Shivakumar in Udupi District
Udupi: Thousands of Congress workers witnessed the swearing-in ceremony of DK Shivakumar, the Congress party’s troubleshooter in Karnataka who took charge of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee on July 2 through the online system.
The programme began with a homage to 20 martyrs of the Indian Army who had died in a clash with Chinese soldiers in the Ladakh Galwan Valley on June 15. It was followed by ‘Vande Mataram’, and a welcome speech by the state Working President Saleem Ahmed. Later the party flag was handed over to D K Shivakumar by Gundu Rao.
Manjunath Bhandary, vice president of KPCC, formally inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Former MLA U R Sabhapathi Administered the oath to all the party members on the Preamble of the Constitution and also took the Congress party pledge.
Thousands of party members and supporters viewed the historic event from their homes, panchayats, civic offices and civic wards across the state, wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj participated in the Uppoor Gramina Congress programme at his residence.
District Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Dist youth Congress president Vishwas Ameen, Congress leaders Ramesh Kanchan, Vignesh Kini and others were present.
