Three Drug Peddlers Arrested at Baikampady, MDMA Seized
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru North Special Crime Detection team arrested three drug peddlers at Baikampady here on July 19.
The arrested have been identified Abubakar Misbah (24) from Ullal, Shabbir Ahamed alias Shabbir (27) from Permannur and Shihab Abdul Razak (27) from Alekala Ullal.
According to the police, the accused were selling banned drug MDMA and ganja in Ullal and Panambur beach areas to students and the public. On July 19, on getting reliable information on the peddling of drugs, the Panambur police during the special rounds raided Kurikatta, Baikampady. The accused were waiting for customers on their scooter. When the police rounded up the accused, they tried to escape from them. All the three accused were arrested and handed over to the Panambur police for further investigations.
It is learnt that the accused were bringing Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) drugs from Mumbai and selling them in Mangaluru. The accused were especially targetting students to sell the drugs. The police seized 16.55 grams of MDMA drug worth Rs 80,000, a scooter worth Rs 25,000, 4 mobile phones and Rs 3200 cash all worth Rs 1.1 lakh from their possession.
Under the direction of Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil and the guidance of DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and traffic Lakshmi Ganesh and the leadership of ACP Mangaluru North Division Srinivas R Gowda the operation was carried out by the Panambur Police Inspector Ajmath Ali, ASI Muhammed, Kushal Maniyani, Sathish M Vijay Kanchan, Isaac, Sharan Kali, Police Sub-inspector CCB Kabbal Raj, ASI Mohan Shettiyar, Harish and team Chandrashekar, Jabbar, Raja, Mani, Yogish, Nutan and Vishwa Poojary.
