Three including Actor Surendra Arrested in Bantwal Assault case
Bantwal: The Bantwal police have arrested three persons on June 21 at Pachinadka in connection with the assault on Ganesh and Pushparaj at Baddakatte, on June 11.
The arrested have been identified as Surendra Bhandary (37), Satish Kulal (37) and Prithviraj Shetty (35).
On getting reliable information of the accused the police arrested Surendra Bhandary and Satish from Pachinadka in Mangaluru and Prithviraj was arrested in Kumble Kerala for helping the accused by providing shelter after the crime.
On June 11, Ganesh Rai along with his friends were on their way to have lunch at the Ashoka hotel in Baddakatte. As Ganesh Rai and his friends were going to the hotel, Surendra Bantwal along with Manohar, Pradeep, Satish and others assaulted them using foul language in Tulu. Ganesh and Pushparaj were injured in the assault.
One of the accused, Surendra came with a machete to assault Ganesh and Pushparaj. As soon as Ganesh and Pushparaj saw Surendra approaching them with the machete, they ran for their lives. In this connection, a case was filed in the Bantwal police station under section 143, 147, 148, 307, 395 and r/w 149.
All the accused will be produced before the court.
Under the able direction of SP Dr Ravikanthe Gowda, the operation was carried out by the DCIB Inspector Sunil Naik, Bantwal PSI Chandrashekhar, Harish, Yallappa, Prasanna, DCIB Staff Uday Rai, Praveen, Iqbal, Girish, Murugesh, Nazir, Umesh Kumar, Mallik Saab, Dhanya, Prashanth, Kedara, Hanumanth and Diwakar.
The SP has appreciated the swift action by the police and announced a reward.
