Three ‘Special Champs’ Felicitated by Rotary Club of Mlore for Achievements in Sports

Mangaluru: Rotary which is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves, are also active in Mangaluru too, and one among them is the Rotary Club of Mangalore. The action of the members of this Club have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to community services, they are always working to better our community, and they stay committed to the end. These members believe that they have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues, like Promote peace, Fight disease, Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, Save mothers and children, Support education, and Grow local economies.

Their mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. These Rotarians of Rotary Club of Mangalore are the people who connect passionate people with diverse perspectives to exchange ideas, forge lifelong friendships, and, above all, take action to change the world and local community. These are the members who look for opportunities to improve our communities today and invest in the next generation for tomorrow. And these Rotarians are all ready to make a difference in our community, and this time they have made a difference and have put miles of smiles on the faces of three Differently-abled/Special Children, who have excelled in sports activities by felicitating them during their meeting.

As they say that “Champions are Made and Not Born”, these three Special children have unleashed their hidden in the field of sports, in spite of being differently-abled, and have shown to the world that with Determination, Courage and Dedication, any human person can achieve their goal, no matter what their physical and mental status are. And it was indeed a good gesture of Rotary Club of Mangalore to recognize the achievements/talents of three “SPECIAL CHAMPS” by making them SPECIAL through a SPECIAL felicitation ceremony.
After the invocation by Rtn Naveen Narayan, the President of Rotary Club of Mangalore-Rtn Vasanth Pai welcomed the gathering, and invited the three special champs on to the dais to be as the “Three Chief Guests” for the day. The citation of the three special champs was read by Rtn Vinod D’souza, and each of them was felicitated by Rtn M R Prabhu, a entrepreneur, Dr C R Kamath and Rtn Lal Bhatia, of Rotary Club of Bengaluru. After a photo session with their parents, the three Special Champs expressed their feelings and gratitude for being honored by the kind-hearted Rotarians. With the vote of thanks being proposed by Rtn Prof Radhakrishna, the programme ended with singing of the National anthem.

Ashley D’souza :

Ashley D’souza, who is 19 years is the son of Jeevan and Stella D’souza, Mangaluru. Studied up to 9th std in St. Aloysius High School, Mangaluru; S.S.L.C and P.U.C from National Institute of Open schooling- New Delhi, based at St. Agnes Special School, Bendore-Mangaluru. Presently he is doing Electrical, Air Condition and Computer course at K.P.T Mangalore.

Ashley has won 3 gold medals at State special powerlifting Championship at Mandya recently. He had also won 3 Gold medals in Bench, Squat and Dead at National Special powerlifting Championship at Kolahpur. After successful participation in Powerlifting preparatory camps at Bhopal, Pilani and again at Bhopal he has been selected to represent Indian Contingent for World Special Summer Games 2019 at Abhu Dhabi from 14th to 22nd March 2019

Abhilash:

Abhilash who is 18 years is the son of Bhaskar and Gulabi Poojary of Mangaluru. Studying at Saanidya Residential Special School and Training Centre Shaktinagar, Mangaluru. Abhilash has won Gold medal at state special powerlifting championship at Mandya; Won a gold medal at national powerlifting championship at Kolaphur.

After successful participation in Power lifting preparatory camps at Bhopal, Pilani and again at Bhopal, he also is selected to represent Indian Contingent for World Special Summer Games 2019 at Abhu Dhabi from 14th to 22nd March 2019.

Prajwal Lobo:

Prajwal Lobo aged 23 years, is the Son of Valerian and Kavitha Lobo, Mangaluru. Having studied SSLC and PUC from National Institute of Open schooling- New Delhi, based at St Ann’s High school, Mangaluru, and then doing his IT Hardware Course and Photoshop work at Saanidya-Shaktinagar and Prajna Counselling Centre-Mangaluru. Presently he working for Diya systems, an IT firm in Mangaluru.

Prajwal has won the Phoenix cup -2017 handball tournament runners up; Silver medal in NCC national softball championship in 2016; Silver medal in bench press 2017 NCC National championship in 2017 and Gold medal in powerlifting. After successful participation in Power lifting preparatory camps at Bhopal, Pilani and again at Bhopal, He too has been selected to represent Indian Contingent for world special summer games 2019 at Abhu Dhabi from 14th to 22nd March.
