Tipu hurt the sentiments of Kanara Christians; Malavika Avinash

Udupi: The state BJP Media Spokesperson Malavika Avinash opposed the state government’s decision to organise Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations on November 10, accusing it of triggering communal hatred. She was speaking at a press meet held at the District BJP office, here on Thursday, November 9.

There is a strong opposition to the Jayanti celebrations from many communities, including Christians and Kodava people. People of Kodagu, Christians in Mangaluru are opposing the Jayanthi. Tipu was a communal, cruel and anti-Hindu as well as anti-Christian ruler. He had destroyed the religious places and hurt the sentiments of people of other religions. By celebrating Tipu Jayanti, Siddaramaiah has hurt the sentiments of the people of this state, she added.

Malavika Avinash condemned the move of Kodagu district administration for denying permission for BJP’s Parivarthana Yatra to enter the district. The state government is acting in an anti-democratic manner. We have asked the permission for the public meeting but the Kodagu Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police have rejected our appeal without giving a proper reason for denying permission for the BJP’s Parivarthana Yatra.

BJP’s Parivarthana Yatra has received huge support in Bengaluru, Thumkur and Hasana district. The Party’s 79 days ‘Karnataka Parivarthana Yatra’ will reach all 224 constituencies of Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the rally on January 28 on the conclusion of the yatra to be led by the party’s chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa. The Yatra is expected to highlight the achievements of Yeddyurappa as chief minister in 2008 and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre. The yatra will seek the votes of the people by highlighting the failures and corruption of the Siddaramaiah government in the state and the achievements of the BJP leadership under Yeddyurappa in 2008 and PM Modi at the Centre since 2014. The Yatra will reach Udupi on November 12. Top party leaders, including Union ministers and chief ministers, will attend the yatra, which will pass through the state’s 224 Assembly constituencies, she added.

State BJP leader Sulochana Bhat, District BJP chief Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, ZP vice president Sheela K Shetty, BJP leaders Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Nayak, Nayana Ganesh and others were present.

It is nothing more than what Yeddi and Bajrangdal did with our churches and our brothers and sisters in 2007. Try to fool Bhakths not Christians
