Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said, “As a precautionary measure, the deputy commissioner has already imposed Section 144 CrPC prohibitory orders so that anti-social elements should be under control.  The general public will not face any problems. During the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, police have taken all preventive measures. On November 10, we have arranged to give full protection to the public and ensure, there is no law and order problem. The public will not be affected in any way. In the city jurisdiction around 2000 police personnel will be on duty. We have installed CCTV cameras. In the city in 60 locations, we have also installed many concealed CCTV cameras which are connected to our control room. If anti-social elements attempt to create any violence we will come to know about it and the police will reach the spot in 5 minutes. We are also using high-resolution Drone cameras that will be used to monitor the border areas of Kerala. We have taken all the necessary measures so that the public will be safe. Any anti-social elements should not think of creating trouble to the public. If they do, they will face problems. Even if they think of creating mischief, they will be booked under appropriate sections and may have to see Khaki even in their dreams”.
Chandra Sekhar further said, “This is only to prevent mischief mongers from creating mischief. We do not want to create any inconvenience to the peace loving people of Mangaluru. In WhatsApp, some people upload and share mischievous content, if they spread such news or content, cases will be booked against them under section 505 IPC and they will be arrested. We have already filed two cases under such sections, one is regarding the Milagres college news and another case in Puttur.”
When questioned about any cases related to Tipu Jayanti filed so far, Chandra Sekhar said, “There are no Tipu Jayanti related cases filed so far, if anyone circulates inciting posts on WhatsApp or other social media, such persons will face problems and they will have to see Khaki every moment which is not a good sign. So far we have taken bonds from 106 people in the district”.
