Tipu Jayanti will be Celebrated only at Zilla Panchayat on Nov 10 – DC Sasikanth
Mangaluru: “According to the order of the state government the Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated on November 10 at 10 am at the Zilla Panchayat Hall. We have not given permission to any organization to celebrate Tipu Jayanti in the district. We have taken all the measures for the smooth conduct of the Tipu Jayanti”, said the Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil in a press meet held at the DC office here on November 9.
Addressing the mediapersons Sasikanth said, “We have already held two meetings with various organizations and informed them to co-operate with the district administration. The Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated in a grand manner. The elected representatives who had given in writing to the DC office not to print their names in the invitation such as MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Capt Ganesh Karnik have been left off on the invitation. For the smooth functioning of the Tipu Jayanti we have taken all the necessary measures”.
Police Commissioner T R Suresh said, “As a precautionary measure we have identified those who have been involved in violence, we have also identified those who have criminal records and have taken a bond from over 80 persons. We have prepared a list of those who will be kept in custody for two days to avoid violence. In sensitive areas, all necessary security measures have been taken. We have deployed 1200 police personnel including 4 KSRP platoons, 10 CRP platoons and 130 officials from the Rapid Action Force.”
The SP of DK Sudheer Reddy said, “Buntings and posters are not allowed without permission if anyone violates the law strict action will be taken against them. We have taken all the necessary measures during the Parivarthana yatra which will be held on November 10 and 11.”
When asked if any protests being planned against the Tipu Jayanti, DC Senthil said, “So far we have not received any information of anyone trying to stop the Tipu Jayanti nor has anyone applied for permission to hold the protest against Tipu Jayanti. As a precautionary measure, there is no permission for any protests, we have taken all the measures to avoid any untoward incidents from taking place.
