To prevent love jihad cases, ‘Hindu Task Force’ to be implemented soon in Karnataka

Mangaluru (Mirror Now): In order to prevent love jihad cases and protect Hindu identity in coastal Karnataka, a Hindu Task Force has been established. The founder of Hindu Task Force was identified as Swami Rajashekharnanda, who formed this moral brigade to reduce cases of love jihad.

Last year, Rajashekharnanda came up with an idea of such a task force but this year it has been officially formed and will be implemented on ground soon. On his official website all the rules and regulations have been laid for joining the task force against love jihad. The application form itself demands a declaration that the signatory would ensure that there would be no case of love jihad around him/her, especially in Mangaluru. As of now the task force would be implemented in coastal Karnataka but it will soon be spread across other districts of the state. For the task force around 30 women are to be appointed by the curators.

In past few months a spike in cases of religious bigotry and love jihad has been witnessed. Several Hindu organisations like Bajrang Dal are backing Rajashekharnanda’s attempt and the idea of protecting Hindus. The people across Bengaluru told Mirror Now that they do not require a moral brigade to look after their choices. Rajashekharnanda has already conducted two rounds of discussions concerning the formation and proper implementation of the task force.

The task force comprises of doctors, psychiatrists and social welfare activists. The members of the task force will visit every house to spread awareness about love jihad and especially, they will train girls to ensure that there are no more cases of Love Jihad in Karnataka.

Unabated cases of moral policing are being reported from Mangalore, Karnataka. In a report by The Indian Express, according to data collated by the Mangalore unit of the Karnataka Communal Harmony Forum, there were 45 moral policing incidents in Mangalore in 2013 — 23 carried out by right-wing Hindu groups and 16 by Muslim activists.
