Udupi: “The top priority will be given towards solving issues connected to the supply of drinking water,” said MLA Udupi constituency and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Revenue Department, Pramod Madhwaraj. He was speaking at a review meeting of the distribution of plots and the drinking water supply at Taluk Office, Udupi here, on April 26.
The Panchayat Development Officers (PDO) together with the heads of the water and electricity department should put combined efforts to address the drinking water issues. The officials who neglect the issues of drinking water will be suspended on the recommendation of task force. The PDO should effectively respond to people during the water crisis. As an emergency measure the government of Karnataka has asked the officials to draw water from private borewells.
SC/ST’s were deprived of the housing scheme due to inappropriate land records, Pramod asked the Tahsildar to hold an inquiry and set right their land records. He ordered the Executive Officer, Sheshappa to serve notice to the VA’s and PDO’s of 76 Badagubettu, Puttur and Shivalli for failing to investigate the applications received for housing sites. He also said that he will release the title deeds on the spot to the beneficiaries in the month of June and any delay in finalizing the applications for availing housing sites will lead to the suspension of the concerned officials.
