Total Lockdown in Dakshina Kannada on July 5 – Dist Admin
Mangaluru: From the past one week, the number of positive coronavirus cases have rapidly increased in the district creating fear among the people.
So far 1095 positive cases have been reported in the district, and 22 of them have died of the disease. When compared to the total population, it is 0.054%, and 50% of the positive cases were reported among interstate and returnees from the Gulf. To contain the disease every Sunday, the state government has announced a complete lockdown beginning from July 5.
On July 5, except essentials services like milk, medical stores, fuel, newspaper and hospitals, all other services will not be available.
So far, 210 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts and 5 from secondary contacts. 98% of the infected persons have completely recovered and discharged from the hospitals. At present only 25 persons are under treatment in the ICU.
There is no need for the public to panic but maintaining social distancing, hygiene, and wearing the mask is very important to avoid contracting the virus.
