‘Tour de Mountains Ride’ by MBC Amid Rain
Mangaluru: Yet another fantastic accomplishment by members of Mangalore Bicycle Club who took a ride named ” Tour de Mountains Ride to Kudremukh”, which saw 27 of our passionate cyclists achieving another milestone in their cycling life. After being successful in our initiative “100 & 200 KM League” focusing on and encouraging endurance riding, this initiative was accepted with a similar response.
‘Tour de Mountains’ is a unique initiative launched by MBC to help riders improve their climbing skills and this was anchored by Dony Menezes (President), Dr Pritam Sharma (Vice President) and Gaurav Prabhu (Committee member). Regular Practice sessions for this were happening over the last one month under these mentors.
We started from Karnataka Polytechnic Junction, Mangaluru at 4.30 AM in our respective vehicles towards Mala Check post via Bajagoli. At Bajagoli we had our breakfast and we started our climb by 7 AM from Mala Check post. Finish point was Kerekatte Hotel riding via S.K. Border. All riders needed a good refuelling post completion of this ride. This ride of ours covered a distance of 38 kms with an elevation of 1200 meters. We reached back to the city by 1 PM. We had three support vehicles following the riders to ensure safety and boost confidence amongst our riders. Age group of riders was from 15 years to 60 years plus. To MBC this was a ride reinforcing our belief that age and weather conditions don’t stop our cyclists from following their passion.
All our fantastic riders remained enthusiastic throughout their climb and all of us were on cloud 9 at the end of this expedition. MBC is on its mission of bringing Fun, Fitness and Happiness in its members’ lives through its unique initiatives.
