Transgenders of Parivarthan Trust celebrate the Joy of Diwali with 45 Kids of Bhagini Samaj

  • Transgenders of Parivarthan Charitable Trust, Mangaluru celebrate the Joy of Diwali with 45 Kids of Bhagini Samaj, Jeppu-Mangaluru- an Orphanage for children who have no parents or single parent.

Mangaluru: For the last two days people have been celebrating the festival of lights, and everybody being in a joyous and festive mood. The sound of crackers was audible right from the morning, which got amplified more than a million times in the evening. But suddenly, an insight forced the Transgenders of Parivarthan Charitable Trust (PCT), Mangaluru to think that there are children who remain devoid of these luxuries. This thought carried them to celebrate the Joy of Diwali or call it the Festival of Lights with the less fortunate children of Bhagini Samaj, near Jeppu Market, Mangaluru, thus putting miles of smiles on the 45 children and also making a difference in them.

It was Thursday evening, 8 November the members of Parivarthan Charitable Trust, Mangaluru took an initiative for the FIRST Time to celebrate Deepavali with the Orphanage children, and make them happy. As soon as the members of the Trust entered the Ashram, to our soothing surprise the children there were in joyous Diwali mood, smiling and enjoying, and we felt really happy to see the smiles on each of their faces. The staff were really superb caretakers and guardians of the children and were too celebrating the happiness with them. Hats off to their care and concern. And when the children saw us all, they were even more excited. Prior to the commencement of the formal programme, we spent a little time with the little friends and took some pictures, which we felt worth sharing with you all, as everyone views the brighter side, and very few from the other perspective. This was truly a Diwali apart from other Diwali celebrations for Parivarthan.

The compere of the evening Ramachandra L, a member of Eco Friends Group welcomed the gathering and invited the dignitaries on the dais namely- Ms Vijayalaxmi U Bhat-President; Ms Ratna T Alva- Vice President; Ms Chitra Prabhu- Secretary; and Ms Bhanumathi- Joint secretary- of Bhagini Samaj; joined by Miss Sanjana- Secretary, PCT; Ms Sabrina Britto H- Trustee of Parivarthan Charitable Trust; and the Chief Guest for the occasion Ms Joyce Rego- ‘Mrs India Dubai ’17’ and who’s managing ‘Rego Events Private Ltd’ which will be hosting ‘Miss & Mrs Mangaluru 2018’ this December. The celebration began with lighting with the diyas, joined by the dignitaries on the dais along with the children- thus making the arena look like the “Festival of Lights”.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Vijayalaxmi U Bhat-President of Bhagini Samaj said, “We are grateful to Parivarthan Charitable Trust, for thinking of our children who have no parents and some with a single parent, by coming here and share the joy of Diwali among them and make them happy and put smiles on their faces. This Samaj is 81 years old, and right now we have 45 children whom we take care of their education, their accommodation, food and other basic necessities, which has been funded by generous people from in and around Mangaluru. These children hanker after an enormous amount of love and affection, they have to be fed, clothed, educated and taken care of in every way. And when organizations like you all join in our efforts it makes us and the children happier. Thank you for sharing your love amongst our children during this joyous Diwali season. May God bless you all”.

Parivarthan Charitable Trust handed over a cheque of Rs 11,250 which was donated by Orpha Suares from Dubai to the president of Bhagini Samaj on the occasion.

Sanjana-the Secretary of PCT speaking said, “Last year PCT gave us an opportunity to celebrate Christmas for the First Time, and this year we are getting an opportunity to celebrate Diwali with these lovely less-fortunate children. Parivarthan Charitable Trust has brought us Transgenders to the mainstream through various activities, programmes, and has helped us in getting our Aadhar card, Voters ID, etc and made us just like others. The only reason we are celebrating Diwali with these kids is that these children should not feel that they are left out from the society, just like us transgenders were left out until recently when PCT came to our rescue. Even these children deserve to celebrate each and every festival with society. This is a small attempt from Us to them.”

Ms Joyce Rego also speaking said, “I am so overwhelmed to see all these lovely children here with full of excitement and joy in their faces, even though they are without their parents. We need to thank the management and staff of Bhagini Samaj for keeping these children in a happy mood and with lots of care and love. Someday I want these children to unleash their talents in various contests that come their way, and I am hoping to see them participate in Miss Mangaluru or Mrs Mangalore when they reach their adult age. It’s nice to note that Bhagini Samaj is managed by board members who are all women, who are doing a yeomen service, which should make others believe that a woman has an equal share with men in the task of building up healthy society, a nation of responsible citizens”.

Following the formal function, with the motto “Light a Lantern of Hope, Shine a Lantern of Life, Fly a Lantern of Love. Be an Angel, Light Up the Night”- Children released a couple of Sky Lanterns in the air which amazed and brought lots of excitement in them, as they were cheering and shouting with full enthusiasm and fun. The Transgenders also joined with the children celebrating the joy of Diwali by lighting the Diyas and distributing sweets to the children. PCT gave away a box of sweets, fruits and juice to all the children, and also guests present. Ms Joyce Rego from her side also gave sweets to Transgenders and the Bhagini Samaj kids.

A few contestants of the forthcoming “Miss and Mrs Mangaluru 2018” also joined in the celebration and interacted with the children, thereby making them happy and made them feel that they are not alone but loved by all, even though they are without their parents, some with a single parent. Indeed a good initiative by Parivarthan Charitable Trust, for making this Diwali with the less fortunate children a memorable one.

This great and unique Diwali celebration, and not to forget, heartiest Diwali Greetings to every reader of Mangalorean.com. But please celebrate Diwali in an Eco-Friendly Way- Keep loud Fireworks Away!
