With this movie, Sayali Bhagat, the Bollywood actress and former beauty queen, who competed in Femina Miss India 2004 and won the title of Femina Miss India World. is making her debut in Sandalwood. Sayali who has acted in films like ‘The Train’, ‘Halla Bol’, ‘Blade Babji’, ‘Jail’ and others films has silently made her debut in Kannada through this movie. The film, which is said to be a psychological thriller, is based on an incident that happens in a home stay in Coorg when a girl stays alone one night. The film makers have roped in Shirin, who has taken a break from Sandalwood, to play the lead role in the Tamil version. The actress has acted in movies like Dhruva and Bhoopathy and was last seen in the Kannada movie AK 56. Bollywood actor Asmith Patel is also acting in the Hindi version of Home Stay.

Santhosh further said, ” The movie was supposed to be released in July 2015, but due to censorship issues it was bit delayed-but finally all the film ratings have been approved, and the movie in three languages will hit silver screens on June 14. ‘Home Stay’ has nothing to do with the Mangaluru Home Stay incident (where a few friends who were partying were beaten by the a saffron group members), but is a thriller film with lot of suspense elements in it. I am not saying Home Stays are not safe and bad. The story revolves around a girl who comes to stay in a Home Stay and what all she experiences in the Home Stay that night. I have written the story and the screenplay of the film. Due to the delay the estimated budget for this tri-lingual movie has reached around Rs 5 Crore. With the support of the movie fans I am confident that this movie will be a hit, resulting to our success. The Kannada version of the movie will be released in 75 theatres in Karnataka, Hindi version in 250 theatres nationwide, and Tamil version at nearly 120 theatres.”

Director Santosh Kondenkeri strongly criticized censor board attitude in Bengaluru and stated that the lack of uniform thinking is missing. This resulted in eight months delay and cost nearly Rs.1 crore over for the producer. A lot of running around for the Kannada version censor had to be made. Santhosh had to meet Pahlaj Nihalani of Indian Censorship Board with his laptop on the censor portions and get approval for the revising committee to certify the film. The regional office in Bengaluru was not ready to send the file to revising committee. With cuts the regional censor in Bengaluru has given ‘Home Stay’- ‘A’ certificate. The Hindi and Tamil version straightaway got U/A certificate. The film has three different first prints. Six days of additional shoot after 25 days of shoot was done for each of the language. There are 12 interesting thrilling factors observes Santosh. It is a happening of one day of one person in ‘Home Stay’. It is noted that Santosh Kondonkeri has gone from ad film business to feature film, as director, and this is his first feature film to be made in three languages. Four cameramen have worked for this trilingual film.

Murali Pavanje, the PRO of this movie for Dakshina Kannada and surrounding areas was also present on the dais during the meet.
