TRV Stages Protest against Ban on Kambala

Mangaluru: The Tulunada Rakshana Vedike staged a protest against the ban on Kambala and demanded to lift the ban, in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha here on January 24.

Addressing the protesters president of the TRV Yogish Shetty Jeppu said, “In three years of Jallikattu, more than 60 people have died and more than 3000 people have been severely injured. But in Dakshina Kannada, there are no cases of death nor anyone being injured during the Kambala. But if we see the reaction from the people of Tamil Nadu over the ban on Jallikattu, the ban on Jallikattu will be lifted. In Tamil Nadu film stars, politicians and people from all over the state protest against the government to lift the ban on Jallikattu”.

Yogish further said, “From the state’s capital, Bengaluru there is no protest against the ban on Kambala, they have limited Dakshina Kannada only for Yettinahole. While playing Kabaddi, Cricket or Football also the players get hurt, does that mean that we should ban such games? We need to retain our tradition and TRV is ready to fight against PETA. By sending messages through WhatsApp or social media they cannot say that there is cruelty against the buffalo in Kambala. They have to come and watch the Kambala and then decide”.

The protesters shouted slogans against PETA and demanded to lift the ban on Kambala.

Jyotika Jain, Prashant Bhat Kadaba, Mohandas Rai, Anand Amin, Srikanth Salian, Rakshith K, Gerald Towers and others were also present.
