Tulu Koota Kuwait Holds Family Picnic 2017
Kuwait: The Tulu Koota Kuwait Family Picnic was held recently, at the Mishref garden, Kuwait. It was the dedicated efforts of the committee members and active participation of the TKK members that eventually led to the success of the family picnic.
The event started with the Kuwaiti and Indian National Anthems sung by the TKK kids with live music which boosted the energy and enthusiasm of all the participants and volunteers.
Tulu Koota President Wilson D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Inaugurated the event through distributing the “OleBella” (palm jaggery) and water, which is a traditional way to treat guests in Tulunadu, while the Sports secretary, Rajesh Poojary did the customary breaking of the coconut for an auspicious beginning. The idea was conceptualised by Suresh Salian and was very well coordinated by the Sports Secretary. The President and the chief guest hoisted the Tulu Koota flag, TKK first lady Reshma D’Souza along with TKK Kids marched with the torch, which symbolised the spreading of “the light of spirit, knowledge”, followed by the lighting of the flame by the President and the Chief guest. To add a special flavour kids of TKK showcased a Zumba dance performance which was directed and coordinated by Shobha Harish Bhandary.
The Chief guest of the day, Ashraf Ayyoor is a very well known personality for his philanthropic activities. He in his speech informed the members that he was delighted to be part of the event wherein people of all religions from tulunadu gathered and united as one family. On this occasion, he handed over free vouchers for a medical checkup for the interested members of Tulu Koota at Badr Al Samaa Hospital.
Various games had been arranged to all the family members of Tulu Koota of all age groups, Children between 0-2 years old played musical chair game and kids aged between 2-4 years enjoyed Tri Cycle race and Rabbit race competition as well. Similarly, the elder kids of age group 5 to 6 were thrilled to take part in the frog & running mix race and Vrikshasana a yoga meditation posture, where they had to stay calm, balancing with one leg. Other Kids of age group 6 to 10 years and 10 to 16 years took an active part and showed their strength in the games listed under their category. As promised the fun and competition was not just limited to the kids and teenagers, games like Kutti Donne, Shot put was organised for gents. Likewise, Lagori and Football were organised for ladies and the special attraction was breaking the pot blindfolded for the Gents and Ladies category which attracted a huge crowd. Team games were equally given importance and drew the attention of members, which displayed the team and sportsmen spirit among the participants. Kabbadi, VolleyBall, Throwball and Tug of War were the other team games.
To keep the members active for the whole day Tharendra Shettigar conducted the quiz for kids, ladies and general category with interesting questions related to the Tulunadu culture, traditional and sports. All the committee members worked with joyfulness and together as one team throughout the day.
Housie housie was hosted by Chandrahasa Shetty and Yadunath Alva Captivating the whole crowd. The event was beautifully hosted by Swarna Shetty, Manoj Shetty, Dr Preeti Shetty, Purandara Manchi, Sushma Bangera and Lionel Mascarenhas.
