Tulu Parba Competitions 2018 held in Kuwait

Tulu Parba – a festival of culture and language, which is being celebrated every year by Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK). Tulu Parba Competition 2018 which is the first part of Tulu Parba 2018 has been held on 5th October 2018 at Indian Community School, Salmiya with full of enthusiasm and pride.

Dr. Preethi Shetty and Mr. Sathish Acharya were the comperes of the event. They briefed the gathering about Tulu Koota Kuwait that “Community, Culture and Charity are the main mantra of Tulu Koota Kuwait and is working around these three “C” since its inception with the motto ‘Unity through language’. TKK promotes South Indian culture and support education through Socio-welfare activities. The program began with Kuwait National Anthem followed by Indian National Anthem and prayer song by Ashwitha Surendra Poojary. Along with the Program coordinator Mrs. Geeta Suvarna, Reshma Wilson D’Souza first Lady and all the TKK Committee Ladies officially inaugurated the event through the lighting of the lamp. TKK President Wilson D’Souza welcomed the guests, judges for various competitions of the day and the members of Koota. He added that it is a great opportunity to the young and old to exhibit their talent and stage their performances and depict the glimpse of our rich cultural and traditional values through various competitions like fancy dress, dances, art, model making and so on. He addressed the crowd and invited all for the upcoming mega event Tulu Parba 2018.

Several competitions had been arranged for all the age group, which also included Cute Baby’s Photo, Paper collage, Model making, Drawing and stage competitions including Fancy Dress (Indian traditional dress & Great Leaders), solo dance and so on. Special fun games like Pundi Eating & Noodle Eating completions attracted many participants. Other competitions like Group Fancy dress, Pick & Act and Group dance entertained the whole gathering. The main attraction of the day was Super Jodi which was a multi-round competition consisting of a General Knowledge test, and other fun-filled activities to choose the super Jodi of the year. In addition to the above, and has commenced in our first event of the year 2018, pooling and considering all the association of Tulunadu, we hosted an Inter-Association Group Folk dance whereby a few associations actively participated and showcased their talent. Tharendra Shettigar conducted a spot quiz for the gathering to keep them connected with the flow of the event.

The program was well coordinated by Geeta Suvarna with the support from her team together with all the Committee Members and Volunteers, which resulted in a grand success with the highest number of participants as well as a quality performance by all the participants. Independent judges evaluated the performance of each competition and selected the best and deserving participants as winners. Prizes and Certificate were awarded to the winners of the competition before concluding the event. The program concluded by Vote of thanks delivered by General Secretary Jagadeeshwara Shanubhogue.
