Tulu-speakers Meet in Madikeri on June 12
Madikeri: There is an estimated number of 1.50 lakh of Tulu-speaking population in Kodagu district. A need to preserve the language and culture to pass on to the next generation has been felt. .
Tuluvas have been in the forefront in many fields and a good number of them have made a mark and excelled. But Kodagu so far did not have a forum to unveil and support many talents and brilliant persons.
Hence, an organization called Tuluvere Jaanapada Koota has been floated. It is solely aimed at the progress the Tulu-speakers.
The president of the Koota, Shekhar Bhandary, has appealed to all the Tuluvas in the district to gather at a meeting to be held in Bal Bhavan here on June 12 and share their ideas on taking the plans of the forum ahead.
The forum plans to extend its area of activities to the entire district in the coming days.
