Tulunada Rakshana Vedike to hold ‘Taulava Ucchaya’ on 29, 30 & 31 March
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, founder president of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Yogesh Shetty Jeppu said, ” Tulunada Rakshana Vedike will organize Taulava Ucchaya’ (Vishwa Tulu Sammelana) on March 29, 30 and 31 at Kudmul Ranga Rao Purabhavana ( former Town Hall) Mangaluru, on the occasion of decennial celebration of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike”.
“Earlier, the Sammelana was planned on February 23 and 24, but unfortunately due to Pulwama attack, we had to postpone it to March 29, 30 and 31. In order to save Tulu culture and its tradition, we have invited eminent personalities, irrespective of religion and political parties. These days, children have forgotten the Tulu culture as they are more inclined towards the western culture, therefore through this event we want to promote more of Tulu culture and tradition among the present generation” added Yogesh.
He further said, “Several programmes such as talks, folk cultural events, book exhibition, art and crafts of Tulu culture, Yakshagana, drama, dances, programme related to Coastalwood films, youth convention, Taulava award ceremony and also felicitation for achievers will be held in the three- day event. Applications are invited for the award ceremony and they should be submitted on or before March 6,2019. Children Utsava will also be conducted. Prior to formal function, a procession will be carried out from Light House Hill (Bavuta Gudda) to Town Hall,”.
“We have decided to invite Udupi Pejawar Swamiji, Chaarukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Jain Math, Odiyoor Swamiji, Kemaru Swamiji, Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Entrepreneur Mohammed Kunhi, Fr J B Crasta of Rosario Cathedral, Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa, Udupi district in-charge minister Ms Jayamala, DK Minister in charge U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Entrepreneurs Dr B R Shetty and Ronald Colaco, Harish Bangera, Harish Sherigar, Tulu thinkers, artists and many such personalities,” added Yogesh Shetty Jeppu.
UAE unit president of the event Ashok Bailoor, Tulu Rakshana Vedike member Anand Amin, among others were present during the press meet.
