Tulunadu Deivaradhane Samrakshana Vedike Organizes Programme to Preserve Traditional Worship

Mangaluru: The Tulunadu Deivaradhane Samrakshana Vedike (RE) organized a unique program, “Deivaradhane Onji Dina – Nambike Oripaga,” at Kavoor Co-operative Sadan, Mangaluru, to address concerns about the commercialization of traditional worship in Tulunadu.

Noted orators and Hindu leaders Srikanth Shetty and Karkala emphasized that worship of God is not just a belief, but a way of life. They expressed concerns about the commercialization of idolatry, which has led to the destruction of families and the erosion of faith.

Senior deity dancer and district Rajyotsava awardee Lokaiah Sera noted that the worship of deities has changed over time, and the fear and devotion that once existed have disappeared. He emphasized the need for a return to traditional practices.

Mediator Manmatha Shetty highlighted the importance of intermediaries in worship and expressed concerns about the younger generation’s lack of understanding of the divine.

Lawyer Sahana Kunder Sooda discussed legal measures to address insults and abuses against religious beliefs.

The program concluded with an interactive session with Thammanna Shetty, where participants discussed recent changes in worship, restrictions, and measures to prevent deities from being depicted in cinema and plays.

The event saw the collection of signatures in the form of a promise to preserve traditional worship, and leaders of Hindu organizations assured cooperation to make the struggle more effective.
