Tuluva Communities to Hold Group Folk Dance and Singing Competition for Vishwa Tulu Sammelana

UAE: ‘Vishwa Tulu Sammelana 2018’ (World Tulu Convention) is being scheduled to be organized in Dubai and Padma Vibhushana Awardee Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala has consented to be the Chief Guest and will inaugurate the programme, presided by Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, Patron of Tuluvas in Dubai. The whole event will be arranged through an Event Management Company licensed to do so and the licensing procedure is on with the formalities.

The preparation is going on in full swing and as a part of the ongoing preparations, the Committee is organizing to hold ‘Group Folk Dance Competition (GumpuJanapadaNalike da Pantha) and Group Janapada Singing Competition (GumpuJanapadaGayanaPantha) exclusively for Tuluvas from all over the Gulf Countries.

The eligibility and criteria with rules and regulation are as follows:-

Eligibility: Anyone residing in Gulf Countries who is part of or connected to Tulu Nadu is eligible.

(A) GROUP FOLK DANCE COMPETITIONS (GumpuJanapadaNalike da Pantha)

Criteria:

(1) Song for dance should be Folk (Janapada) in Tulu & Theme to be shared with the organisers.
(2) Time allotted for the performance is 6 to 8 minutes
(3) Minimum of 8 participants should be there in the team to form a group (open to all)
(4) The theme should be Festive occasion. Performance should display a variety of Tulunadu Festivals
(5) Names of the participants & Choreographer should be disclosed to the Organisers.
(6) The stage should not be littered with party poppers, snow spray, thermacol balls etc.
(7) Lighting of fire lamps, use of water or any harmful materials on the stage is not permitted.
(8) Participants will get only 5 minutes before their performance to do set-ups for their show.
(9) Participants need to hand over the stage within 5 minutes for the next performance.
(10) The team should remove all the props and materials from the stage within the allowed time.
(11) Points will be on Theme, Costume, Synchronization, All Ages participation & Song selection.
(12) The theme should not be offensive and not hurt any religious or political sentiments.

(B) GROUP JANAPADA SINGING COMPETITION (GumpuJanapadaPadaPanpinaPantha)

Criteria:

(1) The song should be Janapada (Folk). Language must be Tulu.
(2) Time allotted for the group song is 4 to 5 minutes
(3) Brief of the song should be shared with the Organizers
(4) Minimum of 8 participants should be in a group (open to all)
(5) Participants should be in traditional attire
(6) Points will be on Song Selection, Presentation & Synchronization
(7) Names of the participants & Choreographer should be disclosed to the Organisers.
(8) Participants will get only 5 minutes before their performance to do set-ups for their show.
(9) Participants need to hand over the stage within 5 minutes for the next performance.

For both the above categories any number of entries is permitted from each of the GCC Countries.

Tuluva’sfrom all over GCC Countries who wish to participate and who are willing to abide by the above set rules and regulations can send their entries well in advance to:

The last date to submit entries:- 10th September 2018.

Final names of those registered entries for the competitions whose complete details are received before the last date as above, will be announced by 30th September 2018 to prepare themselves.
