Puttur: Mahesh (20), son of Chandappa Gowda of Neerakatte in Bajattur near Uppinangady, died of a train-hit in Bengaluru on Saturday.
An ITI certificate-holder, he was employed in Bengaluru. On Saturday, as he was trying to walk across a railway level-crossing at Doddanakodi Marathalli in Baiyappanahalli suburb on his way to office, he was hit by a speeding train. He is said to have died on the spot.
An alumnus of Sahasra Coaching Centre in Uppinangady, he had taken active part in the decennial function held recently and had gone back to Bengaluru. His mortal remains were brought home on Sunday and the final rites held in Neerakatte.
He is survived by parents, a brother and a sister.
