Two Arrested by CCB and Urwa Police, Rs 1.75 Crore Seized
Mangaluru: “In a swift operation two persons were arrested and Rs 1.75 crore recovered from their possession by the CCB and the Urwa police”, said the police commissioner T R Suresh in a press meet held at the COP office here on November 5.
The arrested have been identified as Abdul Mannan(29) from B C Road and Razi (26) from Padil.
In this connection, police commissioner T R Suresh formed a special team to investigate the case. During investigations, the police arrested two of the accused. The amount of Rs 1.75 crore and the Innova car bearing number KA 19 MD 9769 which was used during the crime was also seized. Later during interrogation, it was revealed that the amount of Rs 1.75 crore was sent from Mumbai to Santhosh the owner of Vaishnavi Silver Jewellery Shop Car Street.
On October 23, at around 12:20 pm Manjunath Ganapathi Palamnkar alighted from the VRL bus from Mumbai at Ladyhill. While he was crossing the road, two persons forcibly took him to Bajpe and looted Rs 15 lakhs and two mobile phones. On October 26, Manjunath filed a complaint in the Urwa police station.
The accused along with four others had looted the amount. Two of the accused have been arrested and search is on for the other four accused.
Under the direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh and under the guidance of DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth the operation was carried out by the CCB police Inspector Shantharam Kundar, PSI Shyam Sundar, Chandrashekar, Ramanna, Raja, Chandra Adthur, Chandrahas Sanil, Seenappa Poojary, Rajendra and Urwa Police Inspector Ravish R Nayak and Team.
