Two Arrested for Illegal Black Stone Mining in Belthangady
Belthangady: The Belthangady police have arrested two persons in connection with the illegal black stone mining at Odikaru, Navoor here on March 21.
The arrested have been identified as Pratik Salian from Laila, Belthangady and Annappa from Venur.
According to the police, the Belthangady Tahsildar received information that illegal black stone mining was going on at Odikaru, Navoor. The police raided the place and recovered 11 live wire gelatine sticks, 15 gelatine sticks, a Tractor and two Hitachi vehicles all worth Rs 25 lakh from their possession.
The Belthangady police have taken both Pratik and Annappa into their custody. A case has been registered under section 9B (1)(b) Explosive Act 1884 and investigation is on.
