Two arrested in Urwa ASI Aithappa Assault Case

Mangaluru: Two persons have been arrested on April 6, in connection with the assault on the Urwa ASI Aithappa on April 5, at Ladyhill circle while he was on duty.

The arrested have been identified as Sameer (28) from Katipalla and Mohammed Niyaz (20) from Kana Suratkal.

The accused Sameer has eight cases registered against him in various police stations and Niyaz also has five cases against him in various police stations.

On April 5, early morning at 3:40 am, while ASI Aithappa was on duty, Sameer and Niyaz came on a motorbike and assaulted Aithappa with an iron rod and fled from the spot. Aithappa has been admitted to the hospital with head injuries.

To nab the culprits three teams were formed under the leadership of ACP Uday Nayak. The police have arrested both the accused and seized the Yamaha R15 motorbike from their possession.

I feel vindicated after seeing these reports. For very long, I have been pointing out unpleasant, dangerous growth of criminal elements on this forum. I repeatedly warned about the danger and called out deafening silence by media and political leadership in addressing the root cause. Some religious bigots attacked me as RSS-supporter even though I reject all religions. Hopefully, this unfortunate, brutal assault on an innocent police officer acts as an eye-opening lesson to all those individuals who refused to see the reality.
