Two Children Killed after Compound Wall Collapses at Padil
Mangaluru: Two children died after a Compound wall collapsed over them at Shivanagar, Padil here on September 8.
The deceased have been identified as Varshini (9) and Vedanti (7), from Uppinangady, presently residing in Shivanagar, Padil.
According to sources, Varshini and Vedanti were the children of Ramanna. Ramanna works for a ceramic factory from the past 15 years and had recently been shifted to Padil. Varshini was studying in 4th standard at the Capitanio school and Vedanti was studying in 2nd standard.
Both Varshini and Vedanti were preparing for the September 9, Class examination. At around 7:50 pm as there was heavy rain the whole day, the dilapidated compound wall caved in on both the children sitting near it.
Both the children were pulled out from the debris and rushed to the hospital but were pronounced brought dead by the doctor.
Police commissioner Dr Harsha visited the spot and a criminal case has been filed in the Kankanady police station.
