Two DAR Cops Suspended in Kota Double Murder Case, Sent to Judicial Custody
Udupi: The Udupi district Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi on Sunday, February 10, suspended two DAR Cops in relation to a double murder case. They are believed to have helped the main accused, Harish Reddy. Both were arrested by the police on Sunday evening.
The suspended cops have been identified as Pawan Ameen and Veerendra Acharaya, Assistant Police Constables of Kota Police Station. With this, the number of arrested in the case has increased to eight.
According to sources, both cops had helped in arranging a car, money, and phone to the murder accused to abscond after the incident. Pawan and Veerendra were produced before the judge late night at his residence on Sunday. The Court has remanded them to Judicial Custody.
An argument over the construction of a leach pit led to the murder of Bharath (30) and Yathish (25). They were murdered at Cikkanakere, Mannur village in Kota on January 26, and the case was registered in the Kota police station.
The prime accused in the case, Rajashekhar Reddy (44) of Manur village and G Ravi alias Medical Ravi (42), were arrested in Madikeri on February 7. Based on the information given by them, Harish Reddy (40) (the brother of Rajshekhar Reddy), Mahesh Ganiga (38) and Ravi alias Ravichandra Poojary (28) were arrested early Friday morning. ZP member Raghavendra Kanchan was arrested on Thursday based on the phone calls that he made to the accused before the murder on January 23 and after the murder on the night of January 26. During the inquiry, his involvement in the murder was proved.
All the six accused were produced before the Kundapur court on the same day and remanded to police custody until February 15.
