Two held for Assault on Duty Doctor at Highland Hospital
Mangaluru: The CCB police arrested two persons on March 14, at Kannur in connection with the assault on a doctor who was on duty and also for damaging the Highland Hospital property on January 22.
The arrested have been identified as Mushtaq Ahamed (26) a resident of Kannur and Mohammed Fazal (22) from Farangipet.
According to the police, on January 22, at around 12:40 am, three persons including the injured came to Highland hospital for treatment. When the doctor on duty Dr Pinto was explaining the hospital rules, Mushtaq and Mohammed got angry and assaulted the doctor. They also damaged the hospital property and destroyed the ambulance headlight. After threatening the doctor with life they fled from the spot.
In this connection, a case was filed in the Mangaluru South police station. On March 14, after getting information from reliable sources, the CCB police arrested Mushtaq and Mohammed at Kannur.
Both Mushtaq and Mohammed have a criminal record and cases of murder, attempt to murder and dacoity have been registered against them in the Rural police station. The accused have been handed over to the Mangaluru South Police station for further investigations.
The operation was carried out by CCB Inspector Sunil Y Naik, PSI Shyam Sundar, and team.
