Two Interstate Cow Traffickers Arrested by Ullal Police
Managaluru: The Ullal Police arrested two persons from Kasargod in connection with cow trafficking from Mangaluru to Kerala on January 25.
The arrested have been identified as Diwakaran Nair (47) and Sainul Abid (33) both from Kasargod, Kerala.
According to the police, on January 25, during the wee hours, Diwakaran and Sainul were transporting a large number of cattle from Mangaluru to Kerala. On getting information the Ullal police stopped the Lorry on NH 66 at Kotekar and arrested both the accused.
The police seized the Lorry bearing registration number KA 19 C 0176, 2 mobile phones, Rs 11,000 cash, 20 Bulls and a Buffalo all worth Rs 19 lakh from their possession.
A case has been registered against the accused under section 11, 11(a), (d), (e) of the Prevention of Cruelty to animals act, sec 8 and 11 of Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and cattle preservation act 1964 and section 279 and 379 IPC. Both the accused have been produced before the court.
Under the direction of Police Commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth and under the able leadership of ACP Ramarao, the operation was carried out by the Ullal police inspector K R Gopikrishna, PSI Vinayak Toragal, ASI Shanthappa, Chandra Naik, Sathish, Lingaraj, Basavaraj, Ranjith and Chidanand Kate.
