Two Killed as Heavy Rain Lashes Udupi District
Udupi: Heavy rains battered the coastal districts leaving two dead in separate incidents. Several low lying areas in Udupi District face the flood-like situation.
In the first incident, a woman, Sulochana (42) wife of Chandrashekar resident of Kurkalu of Kaup taluk was washed away in the floodwater on October 24 evening.
In another incident, a 38-year-old auto driver Ravindra Kulal, a resident of Kukkehalli died after a tree fell on his house.
Sea erosion has intensified in Malpe, Thottam, Polipu, Yermal and Padubidri. Kaup Tahsildar Mohammed Isak visited the areas affected by sea erosion and promised to take precautionary measures.
In the last 24 hours, the district witnessed an average of 74.90 mm rain.
