Two Students Drown in Pond in Byndoor, Karnataka

Kundapur: A heartbreaking incident occurred in Byndoor, where two students drowned in a pond behind the Shaneshwara Temple. The victims were identified as Nagendra (13), son of Krishna, a resident of Byndoor Layout, and Mohammed Shafan (13), son of Shanu Shalian, a resident near the railway station.

Both students were in 9th grade at the Government High School in Byndoor. After finishing their exam, they went home for lunch and later visited the pond for a swim. Unfortunately, neither boy knew how to swim properly, leading to the tragic accident.

The pond, a popular spot for locals to swim daily, was particularly hazardous due to heavy rainfall in the region. The incident went unnoticed until evening when the boys’ families began searching for them. Upon finding their bicycles and slippers near the pond, authorities launched a search operation and recovered the bodies.

A case has been filed at the Byndoor Police Station regarding the incident.
