Two women from Tamilnadu arrested in Theft case

Mangaluru: The South police arrested two women in connection with the theft case here on August 6.

The arrested have been identified as Sylvia (24) and Arai (22) both natives of Tamilnadu.

Addressing the mediapersons DCP L&O Shantharaju said that , both Sylvia and Arai were selling gold ornaments, they had stolen from various places to a jewellery shop near Roopavani talkies. On getting information the South police team led by inspector Belliappa arrested both of them.

During investigation it was revealed that both the accused were targeting women who are travelling by bus. They used to travel along with other women passengers in packed buses and lift their gold ornaments. Both accused are involved in other theft cases. The police have recovered stolen gold ornaments  worth Rs 2.64 lakh and Rs 1,45,000 cash from their possession.

DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil was also present.
