Two Youth arrested for Snatching Gold Ornaments at Mukka Beach

Mangaluru: Two youth have been arrested in connection with the gold ornaments snatching case, by the Suratkal police at Kallapu, Thokkottu on September 4.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Salman (26) from Kudroli and Mohammed Hussain Tanveer (28) from Kaikamba Bantwal.

According to the police, on August 26, the complainant along with her family had gone to their relatives’ house at Chokkabettu, Suratkal. While they were returning from Suratkal they thought of going to the Mukka beach.

The complainant had removed all her gold ornaments and kept them in her handbag before going to the beach. At around 2:00 pm, when the complainant along with her family was having a good time at the beach, the accused Salman snatched the bag from the complainant and fled from the spot.

In this connection, a case was filed in the Suratkal police station. Under the able guidance of ACP Mangaluru North Sub-division Rajendra D S, the police inspector of Suratkal station Ramakrishna K G along with other police personnel arrested the accused in Kallapu.

The police arrested both Salman and Tanveer and recovered 336.34 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 8.5 lakh, a two wheeler KA 19 EX 2918 worth Rs 50,000, Hyundai Eon Car bearing registration number KA 19 MC 4170 worth Rs 2.5 lakh, all worth Rs 11.5 lakh from their possession.
