Two Youth Killed on spot in Lorry-Bike Collision
Udupi: In a tragic road accident two youth died on the spot at Puttige, Hiriadka here on March 16.
The deceased have been identified as Vishwas Ballal (20), a resident of Chandu Maidan Udupi and Varun Rao (18) from Belman.
According to sources Vishwas and Varun were returning from Perdoor to Udupi on their bike. When they reached near Putthige, a Lorry coming at high speed from the opposite direction collided head-on into the bike killing both Vishwas and Varun on the spot. When the driver of the bus which was following the lorry applied hard brakes to avoid hitting the lorry he lost control and the bus rolled on to the side of the road. Some of the passengers in the bus sustained minor injuries.
Soon after the accident, the lorry driver without stopping the vehicle drove away but was later taken into custody near Hiriyadka.
Police have registered a case and investigations are on.
