U T Khader’s Inciting Speech Created Violence in Mangaluru – Shobha

Mangaluru: “Mangaluru was very peaceful. We did not see any riots in Mangaluru and people from all walks of life were living in peace and harmony. Congress is creating violence in the name of Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019. Sonia Gandhi has also said that the CAB will be opposed. Manmohan Singh and Mamtha Banerji have also asked citizenship for the minorities who come from Bangladesh and Pakistan. Now the Central government has implemented the CAB through NRC and the Congress leaders are fighting against it. Within 24 hours of U T Khader’s inciting speech, untoward incidents occurred in Mangaluru. The Congress leaders are directly responsible for the violence in Mangaluru”, said MP Shobha Karandlaje in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on December 21.

Addressing the mediapersons Shobha said, “The Bunder Police station is in a very sensitive area, all the four roads leading to the police station were blocked by the protesters who tried to enter the police station to seize the weapons and use them. For the first time in Mangaluru protesters covered their face with black cloth and pelted stones. College students from Mangaluru and Kerala were involved in stone-pelting masking their faces. The locals have said that the protestors were not from Mangaluru but from the neighbouring state. The SDPI and PFI leaders are trying to control Mangaluru and have created violence”.

Shobha further said, “Those who come from other states, those who pelted stones and threw petrol bombs should be investigated. I urge the government to investigate the unfortunate incidents and severely punish those behind this violence. The state government will send the report to the central government. We are in constant touch with the Central home minister. A journalist from Kerala had come with weapons to Mangaluru, he was detained by the Mangaluru police.”

When asked about her claim of PFI and SDPI’s involvement in the violence and her demand to ban both the organizations for which no action has been taken so far, Shobha said, “In the state, many people were killed and PFI members were arrested. PFI members have killed our members in Karnataka. Former minister Tanveer Sait was also assaulted by the PFI members. We urge the government to ban PFI.”

When asked why the police had called the PFI leaders to control the mob, Shobha said, “PFI leaders will not stop the violence instead, they will create violence. The CM has already said that investigations will be done and surely we will investigate all the incidents.”
