Dubai: The maiden Tuluva Siri Isira 2015, a day long unique get-together with a display of Tulu culture, literature, songs and poetry was successfully held on Friday, February 27, at the India Club, Dubai by Tuluva Siri.
Noted personality and a proud son of Tulunadu, Dr Y N Shetty, Dakshina Kannada district Rajyothsava Awardee, was the chief guest of the programme. Sarvotham Shetty, President of Bunts UAE, inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other guests and dignitaries including Praveen Shetty (Fortune Group of Hotels), Satish Venkataramana (Karnataka Sangha Sharjah) and Ramachandra Hegde (Spraytech) were present for the inauguration ceremony.
Under the leadership of President B.K. Padmaraj Yekkar, the day long programme was systematically organized to uplift Tulunadu culture and tradition in all aspects. The programme began with a Bharathanatyam dance by Sparsha Shetty. It was followed by the distribution of a rare collection of various books published in Tulu as a part of “Sahithya Siri” on the occasion.
Eminent Tulu speakers Manohar Thonse from Abu Dhabi, Sudharshan Hegde, Padmaraj Yekkar and Nanu Marol described the beauty and culture of Tulunadu in their own styles under “Bhashey Siri”, which was presided by B.K. Ganesh Rai.
Irshad Moodubidre presided over “Kabithe Siri”. Noted and upcoming poets Gopinath Rao, M.E Moolur, Robert Fernandes Udyavara, Stany D’Souza, Bela and Arthur Pereira recited their poetry in very attractive and elegant way. Tulu melody songs were beautifully sung by Donny Correa, Preema Rodrigues, Asha Correa and Sandra D’Souza coordinated by Musician Arun Carlo and Group which enthralled the gathering.
Under the “Samskruthika Siri”, Ganesh Shetty Bailoor and group presented a sequence of tulu folk art forms of Yakashagana, Nagaaraadhane and Bhoothaaraadane. Typical folk dances of Tulunadu Kangilu Kunitha, Chennu Kunitha and sequence of Yakhsagana form Guliga was performed by The Team Smile Creations choreographed by Jasmitha Vivek.
In the meantime, noted Tulu literate Dr. Y.N. Shetty, Namma TV fame Navin Shetty Edmaar, multi-talented BK Ganesh Rai and Shodhan Prasad were felicitated for their contribution towards Tulu.
Namma TV fame Navin Shetty Edmaar brilliantly compered the colourful programme with uncomparable command over Tulu language and involved the audience by asking Tulu related questions throughout the programme. Padmaraj Yekkar, President of Tulusiri Dubai, extended his gratitude to all the supporters, artists and well wishers who supported and helped to make Tulu Isiri 2015 a grand success and motivate others to preserve the tradition and culture of Tulunadu.
