Udupi: 22-year-old electrician from Bangaluru who had come to the city on tour drowned at the Malpe beach on July 29 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar (22), a native of Herikeroor of Haveri District, presently residing in Bangaluru.
On July 29, evening Shivakumar along with his 14 friends arrived from Bengaluru to Malpe at 4 PM. All the 15 had gone to swim in the sea. When they were taking a dip, Shivakumar was dragged by high waves. His friends saw Shivakumar drowning and tried their best to rescue him but in vein.
Malpe police reached spot and search is on for Shivakumar. A case has been registered in Malpe Police Station.
