Udupi BJP releases ‘charge sheet’ against Pramod Madhwaraj’s failures

Udupi: The Bharathiya Janatha Party, Udupi on Friday, March 23 released a “charge sheet” highlighting the failure of Udupi MLA and district minister In-charge Pramod Madhwaraj in his assembly constituency.

Raghupathi Bhat former Udupi MLA and Mattar Rathankar Hegde released the charge sheet of Pramod Madhwaraj.

Later addressing the media Raghupathi Bhat former Udupi MLA said that Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj has utterly failed to keep up the promises he had made to the voters during the polls. During the last assembly elections Pramod Madhwaraj had assured a 500 bedded government hospital for Udupi constituency but after he was elected as MLA and minister he has been silent on that. The present condition of the district hospital is very pathetic. Cleanliness is not maintained and there is no proper medical equipment to treat the patients. Major cases are being sent to Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru for treatment. The district women and child maternity hospital is also handed over to private persons and the government has no right to involve in its operations, he added.

After becoming the MLA Pramod Madhwaraj has failed to improve the roads in his assembly constituency. He has not even developed one KM stretch of road into four-lane. During our tenure, we have developed Kinnimulki, Service Bus-stand, Jodukatte Bannanje road, Karavali Bypass-Manipal and Ambagilu Kalsanka road into four-lanes.

During the BJP Tenure State Minister for Higher Education, CT Ravi had announced post-graduate study centre in the Udupi district. We had also suggested a land at Kolalgiri near Brahmavar. The projects proposed for the Udupi constituency are being implemented in the Kaup constituency and Pramod Madhwaraj is silent about it. A PG centre was proposed to be set up in Upoor but the same has been implemented in Belapu of Kaup constituency.

“When the BJP was in power, Bramhavar was announced as a Taluk, but there is no definite move by the state government to implement the same. Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA of Kaup has taken more interest and upgraded Kaup as a TMC while Pramod Madhwaraj failed to upgrade Bramhavar as a TMC, he said.

For nearly two years the district has faced the sand crises and the district minister in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj was least bothered in this matter. District in-charge minister is involved in M-sand mafia and has failed to bring a separate sand policy to the coastal district, he added.

Droning the election manifesto he assured the people of Udupi that he will not hike the water bills, building licence charges in Udupi City Municipal corporation limits. But after becoming the MLA Pramod has failed to keep his promises. The Congress administration has also failed to provide drinking water for the panchayats and the urban local bodies he said.

When I was MLA 13 acres of land at Indira Nagar in the heart of Brahmavar town was sanctioned for the construction of future taluk offices, taluk panchayat and taluk court. MLA Pramod Madhwaraj and some of his followers handed over six acres of the total 13.2 acres reserved for the taluk offices complex to the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB). Recently the Brahmavar Taluk was officially announced and now we are facing the problem of land for Taluk level offices, he added.

The former MLA also slammed Pramod Madhwaraj for failing to fulfil the Mono train and gas pipeline promises made in the manifesto during the 2013 assembly elections.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat alleged that the minister has paid money and secured himself the Number 1 position in the survey that was held to evaluate the MLAs in the state.

Bhat said that Madhwaraj has utterly failed as a people’s representative. “Madhwaraj has not fulfilled the promises he made in the election manifesto,” he said.

The BJP will surely welcome him as a primary member, but not as a leader. The BJP has sufficient number of leaders,” he said.

He said Madhwaraj is not clear in his stand in his recent interviews. He is confused and issues contradictory statements to the media, he claimed.

Alleging that the minister had assured BJP that he will be joining BJP shortly after his mother’s entry into the party, Bhat said that he has remained elusive. “Even now he is playing with the party which has given him everything,” he charged.

Udupi district BJP Yuva Morcha president Shreesha Nayak, city BJP president Prabhakar Poojary, city BJP Youth president Akshith Shetty and others were present.

Please release a book on some good work done by BJP to get some votes rather than simply blaming the Congress.
