Udupi Brahmana Samaja, Muscat conducts Shree Satya Narayana Pooja & Flute recital In the Evening
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is one of the lofty concepts that is representative of the unmatchable ideological stature of Sanatana Dharma. Literally meaning “The whole world is a single family”, this statement enjoins the humans to exhibit the highest sense of brotherhood discarding the differences in terms of caste, color, ethnicity, nationality and religion.
Oman: This Sanskrit “Shubhashita” was the reverberating theme – as Udupi Brahmana Samaja of Muscat, celebrated their second anniversary of the formation of the group. The event was held on 8th of February 2019 at Shree Krishna Temple hall, Muscat, in front of a huge crowd of devotees. The event included “Lord Shree Satyanarayana Pooja ” in the morning session and a Flute recital by renowned Flautist and Astana Vidwan of Udupi Shree Krishna Matt – “Suramani” Pandit Praveen Godkhindi and his troupe aptly named as ” Krishna Fusion Band”.
For the second year in a row the group performed the “Lord Shree Satyanarayana Puja “for the benefit of all devotees irrespective of any community. The huge crowd which partook in the Puja program consisted of various segments from the multi-linguistic communities residing in Muscat. The Puja program started at 9 am with the Sankalpa followed by Harivayusthuti & melodious Bhajan rendition by the Omkar Group.
The Chief Priest and the head of Udupi Brahmana Samaja group -Shree Kalmanje Lakshminarayana Acharya performed the Puja and fastidiously explained the story behind the Lord Shree Satyanarayana Pooja and its benefits which even a layman could grasp. After the Katha presentation, Shree Vishnu Sahasranama was chanted, while most of the devotees present, joined in the chorus.
Not to be left behind – Shree Guru Raghavendra Group and Udupi Brahmana Samaja both lead by (Guru) Smt.Vidya Shridhar, rendered melodious bhajans in praise of the Lord. Smt. Usha Acharya, Smt. Padma Acharya, Smt. Rajashree Rao, Smt. Vidya Bhat, Smt. Rohini Dinesh, Smt. Suma Jayaram, Smt. Pavana, Smt. Swathi, Smt. Shruthi, Smt. Jyothi Gurudas, Smt. Jyothi Sudheendra, Smt. Chaithra Sumanth, Smt. Varsha, Smt. Sawmya, Smt. Padmini, Sri Sudheendra & Sri Vinod(Dubai ) were the main singers of the Udupi Brahmana Samaja Bhajan group.
Mahapooja and Maha Mangalaarathi were performed from 12.15 to 12.30pm, after which there was a prayer by the Pradhana Archaka, for the well being of the all the devotees who participated in the Divine event. The ruler of Oman and all the citizens of the country were also included in the prayer.
Mahaprasad was served to all after the Puja.

The UBS is adroitly headed and guided by Kalmanje Laxminarayana Acharya who is a well-known personality amongst all the devotees of Muscat as a very knowledgeable priest.
Mesmerizing flute recital by Maestro Pandit Pravin Godkhindi:
The evening was reserved for the eternal melody of a different kind. Music Maestro Pandit Pravin Godkhindi enthralled the Muscat music lovers with his mind blowing rendition on the flute. “Suramani” Pandit Pravin Godkhindi showed his prowess and mastery over the instrument. The program was laced with pure classical and semi-classical pieces of Hindustani classical music and also a bouquet of few ragas based on film and non-film items.
Earlier Mr. Pravin Godkhindi arrived in Muscat with his “Krishna Musical Fusion Group”.
The team consists of Mr. Kiran Godkhindi, elder brother of Pandit Pravin Godkhindi, an accomplished Tabla player himself who has been proving his expertise in assisting the master since so many years.
Mr. Pradyumna Soraba another artist of the group was accompanied on the Rhythm Pad and Mr.Umesh Murthy with his magical fingers on keyboard contributed immensely in intensifying the ambiance of the musical evening.
The surprise package was Master Shadaj Godkhindi who proved that he is a young prodigy flourishing under the umbrella and guidance of his renowned father Pandit Pravin Godkhindi. He is embedded with all the ingredients of becoming a shining star in the horizon of Hindustani classical music horizon. With his effortless, free-flowing and sparkling performance and his ability to match his accomplished father in making the flute sing, he has left the audience in a gasp of disbelief.
Pandit Pravin Godkhindi himself mesmerized the audience with some pure classical renditions and pieces from his various music albums. In the classical music form, he has excelled as a master of the Ragas, in the fusion music segment, the audience was spellbound with his creative compositions. Standing ovations after almost all the renditions were proof of the grand success of the seemingly eternal journey of music.
For the second year in a row, Udupi Brahmana Samaja has contributed to the social cause too by choosing and honouring the personalities from the broad spectrum,, in the field of exemplary social service. This time around Shree Karunakar Rao, a well-known musician and Honorary Convener of Muscat Karnataka Sangha was chosen for the coveted award. Shree Karunakar Rao was presented with the Memento by none other than the music Maestro Pandit Pravin Godkhindi himself.
All through the full day event of the sacred Puja and the musical exuberance with the huge gathering, it was obvious that minute planning was behind the program to make it an outstanding event and a memorable one to cherish for a long time. The working committee of Udupi Brahmana Samaja deserves applause for it without any reservations!
