Udupi: The John D’Silva Foundation Mumbai and the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh jointly organized a scholarship distribution programme at the Mount Rosary Church Hall here on Sunday, September 6.
The programme began with an invocation followed by a welcome dance. Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh President, William Machado Shirva welcomed the gathering. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi diocese, inaugurated the programme by unfurling the areca inflorescence.
Bishop Gerald honoured the students who had passed with distinction in SSLC and PUC from each Varado – Karkala, Shirva, Udupi, Kallianpur and Kundapur.
John D’Silva was honoured by the Bishop and dignitaries with a shawl, garland and fruits.
In his presidential message, Bishop Gerald congratulated the students for their achievements. He asked the students to have dreams like the late President APJ Abdul Kalam and work hard to achieve their dreams. He hoped that by 2020 at least 25 youth from Udupi Diocese will join the IAS, IPS, IFS cadre.
