Udupi: The matter is simply baffling. Flipkart is a reputable firm engaged in supplying goods online to buyers at competitive prices and they are delivered at the doorstep.
When thousands of orders are handled every day keeping the buyers satisfied, a few stray cases are being reported, especially in the coastal districts, about expensive items ordered being replaced by worthless things in transit.
It is suspected that a ring may be operating in connivance with some employees of the courier firm. A few cases have already been reported in these columns earlier.
Pavan, from Udyavar near here, had ordered a smart phone worth Rs 5,000 from Flipkart. On Saturday, he was happy to have received a courier parcel at his door. After paying Rs 5,000 he opened it and found only a wooden block cut to the same dimensions as of the handset.
When the local courier office came to know that Pavan was about to file a police complaint, they are said to have desperately persuaded him not to do so and assured to make good the cost in cash. Hence Pavan dropped the idea of a police case.
Ironically, Pavan was working for the same office earlier. A few months ago, when a resident of Malpe received a stone instead of a camera by courier, he had to give up his job. Yet he chose to order a phone through Flipkart to be delivered by the same office here.
A few who had ordered goods through Flipkart and were happy about their service have said that the online shopping firm should hold an inquiry as to how things get replaced in transit and to trace the ring operating in the districts.

I agree lot of fraud is taking place during delivery. I feel this time someone has taken advantage of such a situation. Because the company in order to save its reputation are paying off the cost to the consumer. So a consumer may get both the product and cash. Things are getting dangerous. Just a thought!! Some form of transparency has to be created and the offender should be easily traceable.
