Udupi: The second phase of Mission Indradhanush was inaugurated at Beednagudde Anganavadi here, on Wednesday, October 7.
The programme was organised jointly by the District Health department and Rotary Club Udupi. President of City Municipal Council Yuvraj inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and appealed to the migrant works to make use of Indradhanush.
District Health Officer Dr Rohini speaking on the occasion said that the programme was aimed at covering all the children who have either missed vaccinations or are partially vaccinated against seven vaccine-preventable diseases, which include diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B. Expecting mothers will also be immunised for tetanus. To ensure complete coverage, immunisation will be taken up for one week from the 7th of October to 17 October, she said.
The district has opened 363 booths for Indradhanush vaccination. The district has an estimated 2,904 children. There are an estimated 761 pregnant women in the district.
Geetha Ravi Shet, Local Councillor, Dr Asha Abhikar, Dr Nagarathna THO, Gracy Gonsalves District Women and Child Welfare Director, and others were present.
