Udupi: The Congress led state government is hurting the sentiments of Hindus by barring Praveen Togadia from entering the district, alleged Pramod Muthalik, the leader of Sri Rama Sene. He was addressing a press meet here on February 8.

“The government, by barring the leaders of Hindu organizations, is trying to suppress the efforts of Hindu organizations in uplifting the Hindu community. The state government is directly responsible for the communal violence in Shimoga as they permitted PFI to hold rally amid the objection by the intelligence sources.”

“PFI is an anti-national organization. Kerala Chief Minister Oman Chandy has written a letter to the Centre to ban the organization for having its link with SIMI. The organization is involved in various crimes like chopping the hand of a Christian professor, the kidnap and murder of two engineering students. The government continuously supports an anti-national organization but ruins the efforts of likeminded social organizations which organize peaceful Samajotsavas.”

He also said that the initiative of the Maharashtra Government in banning cow slaughter is appreciable. “The cow slaughter houses in Maharashtra and Pune have closed with this move.” He urged the Karnataka government to follow Maharashtra Government’s initiative to ban cow slaughter. He also said that scrapping the 5% reservation for Muslims is a good move by the Government.

“Whenever violence is reported across the country, it is linked with Bhatkal. There is an environment of fear and panic in Bhatkal. In 1992, prohibitory orders were announced for 3 months and 17 Hindus lost their lives. A committee headed by Jaganath Shetty had enquired about the sequences that led to the communal violence but the Congress government remained silent over the same. The BJP also failed to release the inquiry report. The central government should take a stand on Bhatkal,” he added.

“While Togadia was barred from entering Bengaluru, BJP leaders had discussed the issue in the legislative assembly and BJP leader Eshwarappa had said that Bengaluru was in Pakistan. The same BJP leaders are silent when he was barred from entering Goa.” He questioned whether Goa was in Afghanistan.

Praveen Valke, Anand Shetty, Deepak, Shyamprasd, Jayaram, Dinesh, Prasad and others were present.
