Udupi: DCIB police arrested an inter-district thief on April 17 in connection with temple theft cases in the twin districts.
The arrested has been identified as Nagaraj, s/o Hanumanthappa Gantinakoppa Village, Sagar Taluk, Shimoga district presently residing at C/O Jayanthi, Girija Nivas, Suntikoppa Sanoor, Karkala.
On April 17, DCIB Police lead by ASI Rosario D’Souza and his team arrested Nagaraj at Karkala Pulkeri Junction. During interrogation, it was revealed that Nagaraj was involved in various theft cases such as the Durgaparameshwari Temple Moodbidri, Mahamayi Temple Kinnigoli, Ayyappa Temple Karkala, Raktheshwari Temple Miyaru and Ganapthi Temple Bidkalkatte.
Police also recovered temple articles and a Maruthi Omni car worth Rs 2.50 lakh from his possession. Nagaraj has been handed over to the Karkala town police for further investigation.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Annamalai SP Udupi under the guidance of Santhosh Kumar ASP, Chandrashekar DySP Udupi with the co-operation of Vinay S Nayak DySP Karkala, G M Naikar CPI Karkala and their team.
