Udupi: A.G. Kodgi, former chairman of the Third Karnataka State Finance Commission and president of Amasebailu Charitable Trust, said that various development works and welfare projects will be inaugurated at Amasebail on April 10.
He was addressing the press meet at Press Club on Tuesday, April 7. He said that the Amasebail Charitable Trust had been formed for the purpose of initiating development works and welfare projects in Amasebail. “Former Chief Minister and preset MP of Shimoga B S Yeddyurappa inaugurated the trust on October 10, 2008. The trust received over Rs 50 crores for development works around Amasebail. The funds for the projects will include finances made available by the Karnataka Bank, the Amasebail Gram Panchayat, the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), local cooperative societies, philanthropists, and also funds from local area development funds of MLAs, MLCs, and MPs.”
Veerendra Heggade of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala is the honorary president of the Amasebail Charitable Trust, and A.G. Kodgi is the president. A representative of Karnataka Bank is the treasurer and a representative of the Kodgi Trust is the secretary.
The other members of the trust include Udupi district in-charge Minister, Udupi MP, MLAs of Kundapur and Byndoor, representatives of Navodaya Charitable Trust and Kodgi Trust, and SKDRDP; zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat members representing Amasebail Gram Panchayat, president of the Amasebail Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Bank, and president of the Amasebail Gram Panchayat.
On April 10, various developmental works will be inaugurated in the presence of various state ministers, MLAs and MPs. Ananathakrisha president of Karnataka Bank will inaugurate the stage function, while Vinay Kumar Sorake (distirct minister in-charge) will inaugurate the Girls Hostel of Backward community. Abhayachandra Jain, Minister for Fisheries and Sports & Youth Empowerment, will lay the foundation for a new fish market. Other dignitaries will be Shobha Karandlaje (MP, Udupi-Chikmagalur), Kota Shrinivasa Poojary and Prathapchandra Shetty (MLC), M N Rajendra Kumar (President SCDCC Bank), Dr H L Manjunath, Haladi Shrinivasa Shetty Gopal Poojary (MLA). Justice Santosh Hegde, former Lokayukta of Karnataka will preside over the function, he said.
