Udupi Diocese Handovers NYC Cross to Mangaluru

Udupi: In view of the national youth convention scheduled to be held on 18th to 22rd Jan 2017, at the St Joseph’s engineering college campus, Mangaluru, the NYC Cross after being taken to various parishes of the Udupi Diocese was handed over to the Mangaluru Diocese on Sunday, December 11.
The NYC Cross was brought in a procession from Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte to the Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur.
Fr Stany B Lobo Rector of the Cathedral received the cross in front of the Cathedral gate. The cross was garlanded and brought in a procession inside the church.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi Diocese concelebrated the Eucharistic mass along with other priests.
In his homily Fr Albert Crasta Director of ICYM Kundapur deanary narrated the significance of the Holy cross and requested the faithful , especially the youth to adore the cross with great devotion and humility. “Let us surrender ourselves completely to Jesus on the cross and praise and worship him. He is our Lord and Saviour”.
After the Eucharistic mass a special prayer service was conducted.
Later Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese handed over the NYC Cross to Fr Ronald D’Souza director of ICYM Mangaluru Diocese and Jackson Eric D’Costa President of Mangaluru Diocese and wished all success to the National Youth convention.
Fr Edwin D’Souza (Youth Director Udupi Diocese) Loyal D’Souza (President) Felina D’Souza (Secretary) Royton D’Souza (President Kallianpur Deanery), Rohan D’Souza (President Milagres Cathedral and others were present.
